District Court Judge Timothy Black this morning issued a page ruling requiring Ohio to recognize same-sex marriages performed legally in other states. Black agreed to delay enforcement of his order until receiving written arguments from both sides by Tuesday in preparations for promised appeals to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U. Supreme Court. Black said he intends to rule quickly on whether to delay the full effects of his ruling until it is reviewed by the federal appeals court.

T he Stonewall riots started in the early hours of 28 June during a police raid at the Stonewall Inn, Greenwich Village, a favourite haunt of gay and lesbian New Yorkers. As customers were hauled out in handcuffs, the crowd outside erupted into fury. It would change LGBT activism for ever.
